 FAQs "So", Just how much does a V8 Engine suitable for me cost? FAQs


All 2001 spec. Rpi Engines now include as std the following , Mains stud Kit, duplex timing gear, High torque Camshaft, New not used Crankshaft & Rods, All heads have 3 Angle valve seats, and fully unleaded guides with fully enclosed seals as std .

Get our unique ( worth in most cases 20%) Optimized efficiency for the price of standard.

These engines are not recon, but fully rebuilt using all new parts down to nut and bolt level & are generally recognized as being better than new.

No exchange no problem, Our Full engine surcharge Are very low.
Heads Surcharge £100.00 per pair.
Short engine surcharge £50.00 only.
Long engine surcharge £150.00.


 3.5 based Engine Options

Rebuilt as above 3.5 Short engine. £850.00 from 172bhp (std compression 9.75, 1)

Rebuilt as above 3.5 Long engine. £1450.00 from 172bhp (std compression 9.75, 1)

Optimax Upgrades. (full or long engines only)

Stage 1=Max. (high torque), Efficiency and gained bhp.
Stage 3=Max (high torque), bhp (within reason) and gained efficiency.


For stage 1 Add £400.00 to include RP4 Cam, and Stage 1 heads this should give a very economical and fast road, expect 220bhp.

For Stage 3 (More Bhp and still more Torque) ) Add £1000.00 to include RP285 Cam, Duplex Vernier timing gear and HI performance Stage 3 heads, this would still give good economy and is top of the range fast road spec expect. min. 240bhp.


 4.6 & beyond based Engine Options

New 4.0 / 4.6 Short engine Supplied as block, crank, rods and Pistons std, cam timing gear & Gaskets (assembled) £1450.00With Piper cam, timing gear and tappets £1695.00,

New 4.0 / 4.6 Long engine £2495.00 (std compression 9.35, 1 ot lower compression if required)

Full or Long engine 4.6 upgrades as follows.


For stage 1 ( 4.6 and beyond) Add £500.00 to include RP4 Cam, Duplex timing gear and Stage 1 heads this should give a very economical and fast road 240bhp. With masses of engine torque

For Stage 3 (4.6 and beyond) (Road race) Add £1000.00 to include RP285 Cam, Duplex Vernier timing gear and HI performance Stage 3 heads this would still give good economy and is top of the range fast road spec 260bhp.


 Ancilaries for all engine capacity options

Availability and price may vary but the following should give a good insight into what is required)

Front timing cover, complete with Oil pump base and gears. £250.00

Water Pump (from) £75.00
New temp and pressure senders £35.00

Fuel Injection.
As there is no reliable source / supply of "used" fuel injection systems you may consider this only as supplied with complete engines, as detailed on our pages. However we would try to obtain if required.

Weber. 500cfm Carb kit.
Weber 4 barrel carb, with Edelbrock intake manifold, gaskets, seals, all fitting and plumbing , air filter, cables and all gaskets as required, £495.00


Mallory Ignition system

Mallory Dual point distributor, complete with High power coil & Ballast resistor £245.00, new plugs and leads £30.00 ( Magnacor POA ) (Optional) new drive gear fitted £45.00. Additional modifications Strip down of distributor, modify shaft with reverse Archimedes screw (to throw Oil down) and alter total ignition advance to suit individual engine spec.) £35.00


Transmission.
New flywheel & clutch Kit 5 speed or 4 speed, £165.00 balanced, .You can see more on our Special offer and Transmission pages.

General fitting Costs and information(all options also available for export).

All V8 engines.

To remove engine from existing vehicle, to make good engine bay for fitting new, (cleaning, tidying of wiring and plumbing etc.) to remove engine ancillary's that are to be re-used and clean to a condition suitable for re-use, (unless replacement or rebuild is required) i.e. Carbs, Injection system distributor, wiring etc. to install new engine, and all Ancilaries, Set up, Crypton tune, road test for 100 - 150 miles (if possible) and when engine has been fully tested for leaks and any other problems and fully bedded in, to re-set up (required when engine has settled in) and return to customer. Total £1000.00 labour, if Air conditioned add £75.00. Consumable's, to include all new minor hose's, All hose clips. plugs, Oil. Filter, ( *2) Anti freeze) , cable ties Etc. £100.00 All other work Price on application

Cost'ed at 5.2 Level. (also available as 3.9, 4.6, 4.8 & 4.9)


5.2 long engine £6500.00

(surcharge £800.00 or exchange 4.0 4.6 engine is required )
We can (if required) supply all covers pulleys and front timing cover with new water and oil pump plus new temp pressure senders. £500.00

Re-chip your ECU (or exchange) £350.00 (Gems Type £695.00)
Recon injectors (exchange) £200.00 Plugs and Magnacore leads £80.00

Upgrade your injection system to big throttle body ported, matched and short 48mm carbon fibre Trumpets From £750.00

20 AM air flow meter (Gems 4.6 type) Chip AMM. and fitting/wiring upgrade kit £395.00

Performance Exhaust system and headers (matched) From £400.00 with fittings, gaskets and manifold stud kit.

Some added Engine show finish £150.00 (you can leave it to us)

Mallory Unalite optimized distributor for this engine for £385.00
We will also take care of any other small details. not mention above but assumed included and appropriate.
