Rover V8 Wizard - Your Questions Answered

What jets and needles should I use with the Weber 500?

The Weber/Edelbrock 500 carburettor is not a "jet fussy" carb. however to give you a good starting point and help with your emissions we have the following information for you.

The most common issue after fitting the Weber 500 carburettor is for customers to call us and say that there engine is running loads better however the mixture/emissions are rich. 98% of the time this is always down to poor ignition output not being able to burn the fuel properly. It is essential to have a good ignition system and this is explained in full on our web site.

Lucas 'Opus' system 35DE8

Lucas 'Limb' system 35DM8

Lucas 'Limb' system 35DLM8

The above three distributors and the later 1996 onwards style (very similar to the 35DLM8 only with a remotely mounted amplifier) all have a 40% shortfall in there output to the ignition coil. This is explained further in our ignition web pages.

However we have placed below the needles and jets that we fit and run our engines with as a good starting point for you. Of course we can supply a jetting kit if required for fine tuning.

3.5 litre engines - 6252 needles and 0.80 primary jets

3.9 or higher capacities - 6552 needles and 0.83 primary jets

Of course we are more than happy to assist you further if this information is not enough.
