What water pump do I need?

As there are many variations of water pumps that have been fitted to the Rover V8 engine over the many years of production we have pictured the most common styles and also detailed as best we can the main vehicles that they were used on.

Pre 1976 Non EFi vehicles (2A)

Type 2A (GWP 310) small footprint, alloy top hat type mechanical fan connection boss. These early type pumps can normally be found on the Rover P5, P6 & original MGB V8s, early Morgan Plus 8's, and perhaps some TVRs, all Pre - 1976 models. However, you may also find this type of pump on many kit and custom cars, due the shorter nose length allowing ease of fitting to V8s with front end clearance issues.

Post 1976 vehicles (2B)

Type 2B (QCP 2095) small footprint with output shaft for slide on type viscous coupling and fan. These later type water pumps can normally be found on the earlier Rover SD1s (non EFi), Morgan Plus 8s, Triumph TR8s, TVR V8s, and many more kit and custom cars from 1976. It is also worth mentioning that some companies such as Morgan used this pump with the nose cut shorter to avoid the front cross member.

Post 1982 EFi vehicles (2C)

Type 2C (GWP 2149) small footprint, thread on type viscous coupling and fan. These Water pumps are mostly used on EFi (fuel injection) type engines (1982 onwards) normally found on the later Rover SD1s (EFi) type, Morgan Plus 8s, Triumph TR8, TVR, and many kit and custom cars from 1982.

1986 to 1993 4WD vehicles (4A)

Type 4A (STC 483) large footprint with thread in type viscous coupling fan. These water pumps are for most V8 4wd models 1986 - 1993 normally found on vehicles such as Range Rovers, Discoveries, Land Rover 90s, 110s and many more besides.

Land Rover 101s (4B)

Type 4B (STC 486) large footprint with thread on type viscous coupling fan. This type of water pump is for the 4wd Land Rover 101 model.

Land Rover Defenders up to 1993 (4C)

Type 4C (STC 487) large footprint with thread on type viscous coupling fan. These later type water pumps are for 4wd models only and can normally be found on Land Rover Defenders up to 1993.

Pre 1976 vehicles (4D)

Type 4D (STC 481) large footprint, alloy top hat type with a solid fan. These early type pumps are for 4wd models only and can normally be found on Range Rovers Pre -1976.
